Qoqnoos Publication
Qoqnoos Publishing House, one of the independent publishers in Iran, was founded in ١٩٧٧ by Amir Hosseinzadegan. Since then it has published more than ١٥٠٠ titles, including books from classic and contemporary world literature and Iranian literature to non-fiction books dealing with Iranian society and history, cultural studies and philosophy In ١٩٨٩ Mr. Amir founded Qoqnoos Book Distribution Center to make his products easily available to the public. In ١٩٩٨ he decided to publish children books, so Afarinegan Publication was founded by Amir’s daughter and in ٢٠٠٥ Hila Publication was founded by Amir’s son to publish Iranian novels and short stories; so Qoqnoos Publishing House transformed into a Publishing Group. Now this group publishes about ٣٥٠ titles each year.
On the other side, despite the fact that Iran is not a member of the Bern Convention and Iranian publishers are not legally bound to observe copyright, it has been a long time since Qoqnoos Publishing Group voluntarily draws contracts with international publishers and copyright-holders in order to respect the intellectual rights of authors symbolically.
